MKV to AVI Video Converter is a tool that can convert Matroska (MKV) multimedia files to AVI.
The program claims to convert to XviD with settings for the best video quality. In reality, that may be unnecessary as MKV supports much of the same video and audio content as AVI, so in cases it could be better to just extract the existing streams and wrap them in AVI instead.
However, if that sounds too complicated for you to do, this tool does provide a very easy solution, though it is likely to take some time.
